Sharpo’s Microfinishing and Lapping Films (Made in USA) are precision manufactured abrasives that generate consistently uniform wicked sharp edges. Our tear-resistant water-proof polyester film backing is coated with premium micron-graded abrasives to provide the ultimate surface finish.
All of our films include pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) on the back to adhere to our glass plate to prevent slipping/moving while sharpening.
Unlike Whetstones and sharpening stones, you do not have to soak, flatten, dress Sharpo’s Scary Sharp Microfinishing and Lapping films!
To use, simply peel off the paper liner from the film, and apply the film to the glass plate. Be careful to avoid trapping air bubbles during this process. Spray some water or oil on the surface on the film as lubrication for the sharpening process. This will prevent swarf buildup and allow your films to be used longer!
Use pull strokes only and walk down the sequence of grits as provided to you with kits (coarse to fine, depending on how dull the tools are). Angle the blade slightly steeper than the primary bevel angle and sharpen away until desired sharpness! -

It’s as if it’s on a layer of plastic. Makes it much easier to place on and replace from the glass. Sticks firm, but removes cleanly. They have this figured out. Highly recommend.

Exactly what I wanted for my glass slabs. Gets all of my carving tools wicked sharp. Even attached to dowels for my hook knives. Will be buying more of it shortly.
This is definitely needed for your sharpening system. I use it to sharpen my plane irons and chisels. The float glass is a must have. The quality is amazing. The float glass slipped out of my hand and fell but it didn’t chip or crack. You definitely won’t regret buying this!!!
It works better than expected. I've used many stones over the years and this just simply works and is cost effective. Also speedy delivery and customer service is great!
These sheets of diamond film work great! They stick well and remove easily when being replaced. They seem to have a long life and even when I gouge them with a tip they still hold together well! I use them for honing the inside ride line for beauty salon scissors that I sharpen every day for my clients.

the glass is well packaged as part of the scary basic package. I went to our local glass supplier, they do not carry the 5/16th thickness glass. I like the thickness of the 5/16th glass very much compared to thinner glass I have used in the past.
There are better guides but not for this price. This one works very well especially for the price. Much much better than the self-centering guides.

This kit worked awesome for sharpening my chisels. I wish I had purchased an extra glass plate.
Seems to be a good clean product. No grits mixed together. Very pleased.
The set is bigger and works better than my whetstone which seems to take more strokes to sharpen. Not sure how long the films last? I'm hoping to get 4 or 5 sharpenings out of them.
For only $20 it is a great set. So far I have sharpened 3 plane blades. Have not tried it with chisels but I would expect same results. I wish it would have the grit size written on the film but at least it comes with a color chart to go by.
Well made. Heavy and smooth. I ordered 2 and they were well packaged.
First impression was quality. Glass is heavy and edges polished smooth. As for the film, after sharpening my 5 piece Stanley chisel set, I'm convinced this is the best way to sharpen my tools. Film cuts great. Fast, no nicks or scratches and a mirror finish.
