Microfinishing Film is more aggressive than traditional paper sandpaper and more heavy duty than lapping film backed by a 5mils durable backing.
Unlike common sandpapers, these industrial sharpening films are designed for cutting metal and have the grit (Aluminum Oxide) anchored in a layer of resin. The resin holds the grit to the paper in a very strong bond. You'll notice how they are more durable longer lasting than traditional grade papers.
Sharpo's Microfinishing Film have a 5mils thick backing to make the film more durable and less prone to tearing. The adhesive (PSA) backing makes it very easy to use. Simply peel off the paper backing and press it down on glass or other flat, smooth surface.

All of Sharpo's sharpening film share these great features:
• Precision Graded: Superior to traditional sandpapers.
• Faster: Unlike whetstones, prep work is not necessary. Start sharpening right away.
• Easier: The films adhesive back adheres to glass and easily peals away when ready to be replaced.
• Stronger: Water proof and oil resistant. Lasts longer than sandpaper.
• Precise: More grades allows for micro precision and extreme sharpness.
• Manufactured in the USA.

"A mirror finish in minutes."
Sharpen faster with sharpening film engineered to cut and polish metal.
These films cut beautifully, and very fast. I tried them in front of a tool sharpening class alongside the aluminum oxide films, and while both were effective, the diamond films were significantly faster. Seemed to obtain a polished, sharp cutting edge on my chisels and planes in just a couple passes. They were also very easy to remove from the glass substrate with no residue left behind. They seemed to hold up very well to 2 days of continual use in class. I plan to keep them around for a while to get a better idea of how long they last, but from my initial experience, I imagine they will be with me for a very long time. I'd say they are well worth having in my sharpening kit.
Thought there was a quality control issue as several felt perfectly smooth. However a good amount of dark swirl quickly appeared.
Thanks for your review Richard! The nanosize particles can feel very smooth but will do the job!
