Microfinishing Film is more aggressive than traditional paper sandpaper and more heavy duty than lapping film backed by a 5mils durable backing.
Unlike common sandpapers, these industrial sharpening films are designed for cutting metal and have the grit (Aluminum Oxide) anchored in a layer of resin. The resin holds the grit to the paper in a very strong bond. You'll notice how they are more durable longer lasting than traditional grade papers.
Sharpo's Microfinishing Film have a 5mils thick backing to make the film more durable and less prone to tearing. The adhesive (PSA) backing makes it very easy to use. Simply peel off the paper backing and press it down on glass or other flat, smooth surface.
All of Sharpo's sharpening film share these great features:
• Precision Graded: Superior to traditional sandpapers.
• Faster: Unlike whetstones, prep work is not necessary. Start sharpening right away.
• Easier: The films adhesive back adheres to glass and easily peals away when ready to be replaced.
• Stronger: Water proof and oil resistant. Lasts longer than sandpaper.
• Precise: More grades allows for micro precision and extreme sharpness.
• Manufactured in the USA.

The diamond lapping film is amazing! I was able to flatten the backs of plane blades and chisels in less than half the time it usually takes me with other products such as sandpaper, diamond stones and water stones. It took made an arduous task actually pleasant.
Some of the very best customer service I’ve ever seen- prompt and courteous replies, very informative. Regarding the product, I purchased the 180 grit diamond lapping film to reprofile my knives. While it does work, it takes a bit longer to eat away metal compared to an Atoma 140 diamond plates. However, the scratch pattern this film leaves behind is much better. The scratches are more uniform, refined, crisper, and overall better looking than any other diamond plates I’ve used for reprofiling. I believe if Sharpo made a grit in the 100 range, it would be perfect for my needs. I’d love to see them provide even lower grit ranges.
